Essentials
Rating:
Introductory

Using kettlebells properly will change your life in ways that you can't imagine yet. Using kettlebells improperly will change your life in ways that suck. The purpose of Essentials, then, is to give you an initial understanding of correct technique for the basic kettlebell movements. We will continue to work on improving technique during subsequent classes, so it's OK -- and somewhat common -- if you don't completely "get it" by the end of this class.

Please bring flat-soled shoes to class if you own a pair (Converse Chuck Taylors, wrestling shoes, Vibram Five Fingers, etc.). If you don't, bare feet or socks are also fine. We'll explain the reasoning at class.

Attendance at this class is by appointment only and is a pre-requisite to attending any other class at TNT, so call or email to reserve your spot today! If our training philosophy resonates with you and you sign up for one of our ongoing memberships that day (check out the FAQ section for more details), the $20 cost for this class will be waived.

** If you are completely unable to attend class on this day/time or are itching to get started and can't wait for the next scheduled class, please contact us and we will do our best to make alternate arrangements. **

Available Times:

  1. SAT  10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (1st & 3rd Saturday of each month only)
Workshops
Rating:
Moderately challenging

A kettlebell is just a weight. Nothing more; nothing less. And if you train with one in the same way that you train with other types of weights, you're going to get the same results (e.g. probably minimal). So to deliver the best possible results to you, our training revolves around implementing the "hard style" methodology advocated by the RKC system (see FAQ page for more details).

Because we teach some of these strategies in Essentials and our regular classes, you will experience great strength and conditioning improvements by participating in those classes. But just like martial arts or yoga practice, there are additional skills, strategies, and techniques that you can apply to your kettlebell training (and throughout other areas of your life) that will in turn provide you with exceptional results. You'll learn those strategies by attending these workshops.

For more information and to register for upcoming workshops, please see our MindBody site.

Available Times:

  1. SAT  10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (2nd Saturday of each month only)
Operation Homefront Workout
Rating:
Moderately challenging

Operation Homefront is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. Please check out their website for more details or to become more involved. You can also support the organization by attending one of our Operation Homefront Workouts.

Attendance at this class requires a minimum $2 donation, but please give any other amount that you feel is appropriate (this workout is FREE to current military/police/firefighter personnel). All proceeds are donated to the Wisconsin chapter of Operation Homefront, so you will be supporting our local troops.

While this class is structured, it is a self-paced workout. Please bring along a pair of shoes. If the weather is nice, there might be some outdoor activities. This class is also open to individuals who are NOT members of TNT, so bring along your friends!

Available Times:

  1. SAT  10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (4th Saturday of each month only)

One of the main tenets of a fitness training program is a concept called "periodization". Periodization is an organized approach to training that involves progressive cycling of various aspects of training (e.g. flexibility/mobility/stability, strength, endurance, etc.) over a specific period of time. Focusing on increasing one or two capabilities while maintaining or allowing minor declines in others will yield overall better results in the long run than attempting to focus on everything at once. In other words: You can't prioritize without de-prioritizing.

Whether your goal is losing a few pounds, becoming a world class athlete, or simply chasing the kids or grandkids around without feeling like your body is falling apart, this class will deliver results using a periodized approach to training. Most classes will be "time-based" as opposed to "repetition-based", and options will be given to substitute easier/harder exercises based on your current individual goals and physical capabilities.

So if you're about to ask, "Is this class for weight loss, flexibility, strength, muscle gain/tone, or conditioning? Is it for beginners or for more advanced individuals?"... our answer is "Yes"!

Available Times:

  1. MON - FRI      6:30 a.m. - 7:15 a.m. / 5:15 p.m - 6:00 p.m.
  2. SAT            8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.
  3. MON - SAT      9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.
  4. MON & WED      4:15 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Hard Style
Rating:
Challenging/Preperatory

Every April and September, we host a Tactical Strength Challenge (see the TSC website for more details), and TNT members and trainers love to participate in the TSC as well as a variety of other events such as mud runs, triathlons, swimming meets, and rock climbing competitions. While attending other classes will improve your physique and elevate your physical capabilities beyond where they've ever been, "peaking" your performance for a particular event requires a little extra attention. Enter the Hard Style class.

As an upcoming TSC draws near, the goal of this class will be to improve the capabilities you'll need in order to do well at that event. During other times of the year, the focus will shift to preparing those who regularly attend the class for any upcoming event they are training for.

In general, this can be thought of as a "competition" class... It won't necessarily be competition against anyone else, but it will definitely be against yourself!

Available Times:

  1. TUE  6:15 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
VO2 Max
Rating:
Challenging/Preperatory

"VO2" or "VO2 Max" training refers to "Maximum Volume per time of Oxygen consumption". Simply stated, it's a measure of your maximal aerobic capacity. And that's exactly what we'll be focused on improving during this class.

A few TNT members and trainers have previously used this training protocol to both train for marathons (while minimizing training runs) and to lose body fat. Adding this workout to a training regimen once per week has an interesting side-effect of increasing seemingly unrelated physical capabilities such as pulling strength as well (e.g. pull-ups).

The only requirement (besides Essentials) for attending this class is that you know how or are willing to learn how to snatch a kettlebell... because you will be snatching... a lot.

Sound simple? It is! It's also remarkably effective!
